For a hassle-free removal:
- Choose a removal company and not a transportation company
- Ask if the personnel is professional
- Agree and confirm the removal date at least 15 days prior
- Ask for all the content of their furniture to be (individually) packed
- If taking care of the packing themselves, do not use big boxes for fragile objects and books
- Mark all boxes with the destination room in the new house
- Mark all boxes containing plates and glasses and show them to the removals team
- Ask for furniture disassembly and reassembly
- Call the plumber and the electrician for the new house in advance
- Remember to rescind their phone, gas and electricial supply contracts and give notice of change of residence to their local authority.
